It's hard to tell from the pic; is it green over flame? If it is, I have its twin.

Very clean looking Hiwatt, compared to my '70... have you registered her with Mark Huss...? (world-wide Hiwatt registration site)

No, a 34". It's the first generation version with the signature decal inside and the dreaded 52mm saddle width.:)

Tell more about the saddle widths.  I've heard they also made 48mm spacing too?  Is the 52mm too wide?

Well, it's wide but I've used to it so it's hard to say. I understand those who think it is too wide though!
I'm not sure but I think the 48mm is the standard now?

Her? Should I get sentimental with my amp? ;)

Yes, it's clean and in all-around good condition. I've had it for 13 years and never had a problem. I should get another one though. Someday hopefully.

I tend to consider some forms of technology to have a spirit all of their own... I workd on Concorde in the '70'sand early 80's and she could never be an it, neither could my instruments nor amps... in the west, most ships are considered feminine, whilst in many Slavic/Cyrillic nations they are viewed from a masculine perspective... most instruments have curves and numerous psychologists would point out the neck with interest... ;D

Each to their own (forms of insanity), Pekka... each to their own ... ;)

Coming back to Mark Huss... his site gives accurate details of age and he is more than helpful when offering advice... mine was built by Dave Reeves and may be a one-off, although visually she looks like a DR103S - the serial number plate calls her a "SWITCH", which Mr Huss believes to be the only one...? At some point I intend to replace the 1969 power caps (as recommended) and I will provide him with an accurate wiring diagram, for his records...

It's only knock and know-all but I like it[/i] ;D

I think I checked the age from Mark's seite (I bought it as a 1973). One of the caps is original, dated
also 1977. I'll be getting them changed sometime in the future too.

Wha? No, no, it's a real 1991 4003JG but may look like a shortscale in that picture if the Hamer was a B12S. It is in fact a Franken-Hamer that has a neck from a Korean made CH-12 and a custom built B12S -style body.

Aha! That explains that then, I was gauging it from the Hamer 12 string which I know are usually short scale.

After 25+ years of use and abuse my 400w EVM 15L has been replaced by a brand new 1000w EVX-155 (a couple of months ago) and yesterday I recieved the replacement for my old EVM 12L. I decided to go with the 300w Zakk Wylde sig version rather than the Classic one just because of the claimed extra capacity for abuse. I run them bi-amped. I was in the shed last night re-covering the custom 12" cab that EV built for me in the late 80's. I figure that if it sounds good and works well dont screw with it. The 15" is in a standard TL 606 cab. I use an EV XEQ-3 active crossover.

I love the sound of these speakers.
