What *is* a "tone ring" cab anyway?

a tone ring speaker cab was Fender's first attempt (i think) making a ported speaker cab. it involved a ring of sorts that was coupled with a baffle that allowed the air to vent around the edges of the speaker instead of out a port in the speaker cabinet.

Ease up on the gas, Tone... :o

Do they still "gas" the beers...? my (late) uncle used to do part-time work in bars in Napier (Ahuriri Tavern?) and described using a gassing pipe prior to serving...?

There are more "real" ales here than there ever has been before, even for sad veggies like myself...

Here in Fort Collins two of the 8+ craft breweries operating in town are about 100 yards apart.  We had guests and went as a party of six to brewery #1, sampled 18 beers, then walked to the next and sampled another 12 beers.  (Fortunately all in about 3 oz glasses we passed around).  I'd never tasted 30 beers in a little over 2 hours.  Fortunately these are less than a mile from home, and I drove home quite carefully.

In my bad old days 12 pints was feasible in a session but I got sensible, sort of...

Of the two bottles of Malt I took down from the Isles last summer I still have half a bottle left... Mind you, I did crack a 1972 Talisker at Christmas that was finished at my friends down in Devon last week - one of my dad's "special" reserve...

Hmm... I'm tempted to have a dram now... :toast:

I thought that was traditionally phrased as "a wee dram"....

Wee drams are for guests -  always leave them wanting more... mine was a LARGE dram...

I am having issues...

My Hiwatt is presently RIP - that cap failure I was pushing happened, but at least it wasn't catastrophic... she went out with a whimper and not a bang...

OK, finally going to post something here! This is the monster rig I brought out last Friday. Top to bottom:

'74 SVT head
custom built (by me) 2x10/1x15 cab
'70s (tilt back) SVT cab

BALLS!  ;D Not to mention tone. The sound guy was cool enough to take both a DI, and mic on the 15, which is my favorite way to go. I typically just use the top cabinet on its wheels, but this particular show was a biggie - 3 bands, with lots of local rock hot shots in the house. Had to bring the biggest gun!
