Hmmm.  Kinda a Strat / Non-reverse T-bird / Ovation Magnum PG mash-up.

...with Tele pickups.  Fender should have done some sort of humbucker Strat scheme IMO.

Hmm... Not the worst body I've seen, but I don't think the traditional Fender headstock works with it. I think a Swinger headstock would help.

Agreed on the pups...

I like it. A new shape that doesn't look too far fetched.
Why not? We've seen enough Telecasters, Strats en Les Pauls.

I think it will sell; the more I look at it, the better I like it.  I'll bet it will balance well, too.

I guess they'll find out if the market is ready for something other than a J, P or Mustang.

The guard makes it look even more odd.
it should be more like an upside down  Nike swish without the top returm

Has any really new design from Fender or Gibson sold well in the past 30 years?

My prediction: it won't last.

That is an entirely different question.
Most designs that I really like, have never really sold well.

Agreed about the pups, but I still prefer that to dual exposed coil  buckers which is what Fender throws on anything where they want to be novel these days.  I like Teles a lot and dont actually have one (though I am currently holding on to a repro Broadcaster bridge pup that's burning a hole in my pocket).

I think it looks good though I never liked schemes with colours that almost but not quite match (the blonde with the maple board).  Also maple boards in general and block inlays on maple boards even more so, but that is just me, I think, in the entire world.

Throw a dark wood board on there and I'd be sold (aside from the cost)
Robert Plant and Jimmy Page (drummer and bassist of Deep Purple, Jake!)

Love the body shape, hate that they went with a boring tele setup on hardware and pickguard. Here's the same body that they used on the Voyager prototype in 2012:

Looks like the exact same body style, and I don't like that one either.

This guy made a video about the Meteora and pointed out that it was the Voyager body. Here he is with more leaks. No idea if any of these will make it to production.
