What is a realistic price for a 1964 EB2?
« on: January 01, 2018, 05:25:28 AM »
I saw a 1964 Eb2 the other day in fairly good condition. Some buckle rash and a well executed headstock repair. Color is a sunburst.
What would be a realistic price these days?

There is one on Reverb for $2,499 without a headstock repair.

The VG Price Guide says $2,200 to $3,000.

IMHO the VG price guide is usually unrealistically high.

The highest priced recent sale of an EB-2 or Epi Rivoli on eBay is this unbroken 1960 with some mods that just sold for $2600.

I wouldn't mind paying north of 2 grand for a decent EB-2, the new Thunderbird might have some people scratching their heads. Sweetwater just raised prices on all the new 2018 Gibsons.
Contrary to what James Bond says, a good Gibson should be stirred, not shaken.

I just looked. January 3rd and they've raised 2018 prices 10%.  :o  That will stimulate sales, all right.
