Gibson Ripper/Grabber/G-3 bridge cover
« on: November 18, 2017, 02:15:23 PM »
Does anyone make a replacement bridge cover for the Ripper/Grabber basses? I'm looking at this one but it seems like maybe it's not wide enough?

It's wide enough. But you're going to need spacers underneath the feet to get enough height.

I bought one of them repro grabber covers years back, on ebay. good quallity, but crazy tall! How tall are the originals?

Good-bye palm muting then.

Good-bye palm muting then.
I pluck in the neck end area, and the instrument is too long anyway - I've gotten used to shorties by now.

I have experimented with a technique that allow you to pluck by the neck and palm mute; you just use your left foot.
The octagrab might be useful here, you just put your pinky toe in the grab and mute with the foot side or heel.

A nice technique all in all, the only downside is that you look a bit like Ian Anderson when you do it.
So I try to restrict it to studio work exclusicvely.

It's the only one he can still control, Dave, did you have to put your finger on that?  :-\

Thanks, what do you mean by/what would you use for spacers to raise the height?

Amptech, do you know how tall yours is, and what company/ebay seller you got it from?

A guitarist friend of mine borrows it now, I'll call on him to measure it - and check my ebay if it's still there.

My reproduction cover should fit,  I will double check with my Grabber when I get home tonight.

Just got a message from my friend, it's 35 millimeters at the highest point. I bought it in 2011, wow time flies.
Still had the bill in my mailbox, the seller on ebay was called kmahlke, PM me if you need his mail address.

I think it's too tall, perhaps better on a ripper with three point. GOT, how tall is your repro cover?
