Q80/Q90 piezo model?
« on: August 06, 2017, 04:51:04 PM »
I can't remember if we have ever discussed a Gibson Q80 or Q90 with piezo pickups like the Shadow Explorer, but I saw this posted elsewhere today and thought I should share:

Yes, Uwe has a piezo Q90 in white. The one in the pic you posted is also a Q90, you can tell by the headstock.

Yeah, I looked at Rob's book and saw the difference in headstock shapes. I don't remember seeing one before but I can't say I'm surprised to hear that there is one in the Kollection.

It's been years since he posted a pic of his, and since his photobucket is over limit I can't find it. Maybe he'll post one from wherever his pics are hosted now.

I still have, but - irrespective of Photobucket - no pic of it!

Those don't sound half-bad, the Shadow Piezo gives a less "plastic" tone than you would expect.

Is it white? I could swear you posted a pic of it once, maybe as part of a larger group photo.

Yeah, it's white turned yellowish/ivory. I've only seen white ones of the piezo version and they were always fretless (with fretlines), but there were probably at least ebony fin ones as well as ones with frets.

Too bad Tom and I didn't take pics of that bass when we shot the entire collection. Was it there that weekend?

When I win Powerball and buy Henry out, I will bring back the WRC clownbass prototypes as well as the 20/20.
