And how would pink paisley look on a 4001/3?

I thought it was autobiographical...    ;D

What's next, an Aerosmith song on a WalMart commercial?  Oh wait, that's already happened...... :o

I worry that the person who thought up Muzak may be thinking up something else.

Terry Bozzio is still a beast although maybe not as cute when he used to go shirtless. My mancrush on him is probably due to too many endocrine disruptors in the environment.

Here's a very rare (one off? Paul?) '79 LH/FG/BT on eBay. Only the plastic parts (pickguard, TRC, body and neck binding) are black, the metal parts are chrome. IMHO it looks way better than the current prototype.

I do like the current one, but totally agree - the '79 is gorgeous. Chrome baby!

It's hard to say "one off" and Rickenbacker in the same sentence anymore. WOW! This being a '79 4001 explains why it doesn't have the blackened hardware as that didn't come around until 1985 (possibly late '84), but what is unusual about this is that the NECK has black binding. Most 4001 that have black binding have it on the body only, with white binding on the neck. But "never say never" and here is the proof. And a lefty at that. Fireglo with black binding is unusual enough. WOW!

That IS odd for something that old. My white '79 with black binding had white on the neck.

I wrote to the seller (through the listing) and asked if he could send his photos to me for use in the "maybe someday" 3rd Edition of the book. But radio silence.

That ebony board on a Ric looks plain weird and I don't see what aural benefits it would bring either.

The pink one I like because it is a nice pastel pink, not a garish one - like that obscene Stingray.

RIC posted this to fb and Twitter: "A prototype finished today. General production worthy or nah?"

There's also a pinkish 4003. RIC used the hashtag #mykindoftownchicago so my guess is these will be sold by CME.

I like the blackout effect actually.  Cool  look.
