$1,600 is not a bad price for a '69 EB2D, right? Even with the repaired headstock crack?

That sounds about right.  I paid $1900 for this unbroken '67 with case a few years ago.

It's still there, even has the "Make Offer" option.

I don't know. That seems a bit steep........ I paid $230.00 for the EB-2 on the right in 1974.............

Good deal but that's $1200 in 2017 dollars.

Good deal but that's $1200 in 2017 dollars.

I was an impatient 18 year old kid with a tax return, didn't really research or check prices. I walked in the store, planning to check out a Ric. The store manager pulled it out behind the counter. He said he had to sell it to get money to get his stolen motorcycle that had just been found. While in that store, I was reading a brochure on the Les Paul Triumph bass. That purchase was my first Gibson Bass. I didn't know it was short scale, knew little about it. About 18 years later, I saw my first Hobbit in person. That started my collecting problem  ???

$1200 in 2017 dollars is still a bargain!

I researched prices back then, but most of us didn't know remotely near as much about the technical details as we do now.

I bought my only other Gibson, a 69 Les Paul Deluxe from the same store about four months earlier. It wasn't until I talked to Pete Alenov years later that I found anything out about it. He pointed out the one piece body, no "made in USA" stamp, etc..... Good reference books were few & far between, no internet. Things sure have changed............

The web was barely beyond its infancy when Pete died. You have to wonder how big a mark he would have made in today's world.
