I finally got the Marvel on the bench and it was a real simple fix. The hot on the pickup lead had grounded out due to deteriorated insulation. Really cool sounding bass with old school thump. It even intonates pretty good. No adjustable truss rod if any. The action is a bit high for me but a upright player picking up this bass in the late 50s would find it perfectly acceptable.
