cap values?
« on: January 29, 2008, 05:36:19 AM »
in Dr Bassman's thread about his epi hollowbody project, tone pots values and the effect on the overall sound were discussed.   cap values were also mentioned but I'm wondering if anybody can elaborate on how the different caps effect tone?  for context, I rewired my ripper like an LP using 500k audio taper pots for volume/tone and .047 caps.  it's very bright sounding and I'd like to reel it in a bit and get more of a traditional gibson sound out of it.  on my first attempt at wiring it, the pups were out of phase and it screamed like a banshee.  I corrected that but it's still too bright for my tastes.  so, what can I expect by changing the caps to .022 or .1?
thanks in advance!

.1 will make your starting point (i.e. with the tone knob on 10) less bright. .022 will have the opposite effect.
