The illusive "Cherryburst" Ripper
« on: August 18, 2016, 11:25:52 AM »
Not often that you see one of these pop up.  The finish on the headstock looks a little questionable to me, but maybe it's just been retouched.

That one really is quite rare. Ooh, I want it but I reached the roof a long time ago (nr of basses that is) and already have a fretless Ripper so I can not justify that aquisition.

The bass looks legit to me.

Always a little concerned when a zero-feedback seller lists an expensive item, despite eBay's buyer protection.

Oh well, I am safe listing says he won't ship internationally. I tried to ask him to reconsider and it appears international bidders may be blocked from enquiring even?
Bit concerned about the varitone issue, if that is what it is and the zero feedback.

Yes the Varitone issue would need a bit more explanation. For example, if the non functioning Varitone position is nr 1, it might be an internally broken neck pickup. The bridge pickup will produce sound in all of the following  three settings.

Is this the go-to bass for Dirty Deeds, Done Dirt Cheap?

Are the necks on these 1-5/8" at the nut?

Yup. At least the early ones I've seen all have been.

My 74 is. It has  a serial pretty close to the one for sale. Same wider body as well.

Not a bad price, but I've never been wiling to buy from a zero feedback seller unless I was close enough to do pickup in person and inspect it first.
