Music was better when ugly people were allowed to make it.

Ah... then you mean something like Uwe and the Argoposters... or maybe Epiphone in the Underworld...?

Well... there is Homer's Uwesey...

Uwesseus, the hero, tied to the mast whilst the crew of the Outpost, their ears plugged with potting wax, for fear of suffering incurable GAS from hearing the sound of the Kalamazoo as they sailed past the Island of Nashville, where they would be dashed on the rocky shores of emptypokets, bereft of life... though Uwesseus pleaded with the crew to release him from his bindings, he was bound tighter, for the crew heard not the sound of Kalamazoo, but he let it be known that when the danger was past, it was safe to unplug and play acoustically once more... ;)

I can't see the trees for the jungle of hidden agendas in this thread!

I have a both the SG shape and the EB-2 look Gibson EB-6 versions, that is sufficient for me even though the Epi version might be rarer than both.

Well, well, well, look what Rick Turner posted on FB -- Rick playing what he calls an Epi Coronet six string bass in 1968. Appears to be the same as what the pic in my original post called a Newport. With six strings and the guitar style pickguard, the Coronet name makes more sense.

In the comments, someone says that Rick King at Guitar Maniacs in Tacoma had one for sale the last time he had talked to him. It's not listed in their gBase listings but if it's still there, can we all agree that Uwe needs it?  :vader:

Here's a pic of Noel Redding with one:

Dunno how many there were, but if there were only something like 90 Newport Deluxes and 25 Newports w/Fuzztones made, I can't imagine there were more EB-6 Newports than that.
