Is the Gibson NR pickup actually any different from the Epi pro bucker?
I wonder if they sound pretty much the same.

So far just the lower wattage 100s and 200s. I wonder if they’ll reissue the 2000s.

I'm glad to see it, but wonder how many people will pay $3200 US for an ultra-simple 65w bass amp.

What dress to wear with it?  :gay:

It would probably look better on you than most people!

Those are indeed very nice to play and sound good. I had a single-coil sunburst one for a while in the 1990s. Wish I still had it.  I mangled mine into a sort of homemade baritone by converting it (badly and cheaply) into a six-string instrument. I don't know where that instrument ended up.

Oh cool - I also found your page that explains the active electronics - very unusual:
https://flatericbassandguitar.blogspot.com/2010/07/peter-cook-custom-builder-where-are-you.html

Quote
1. volume knob (near back p/up)

2. cut/boost knob offering 15dB cut/boost

3. Frequency knob which works in turn with cut/boost knob (essentially,
you've got a parametric system - freq range of 80Hz to 20KHz).

4. pickup selector switch

5. pickup phase mini toggle switch

6. Active/Passive mode mini toggle switch - I assume this is a 3 way job as
it says that you get `passive with top cut, full normal passive and active on'

Very cool stuff. Definitely of its time visually.
Btw that first link is missing the "l" at the end, it came up as 404 but then I noticed it ended in ".htm" instead of ".html".  That would fix it.
This works:

What's with binding on the edge of the frets?

I think it's fun, but I would only want something like that for myself if it were an Epiphone at Epiphone prices.

The only bass/guitar doubleneck I've actually witnessed played live was this homemade job in this weird arty underground band Spongehead back in the late 80s.
Can't see it very well in the lo-fi video but:

Funny thing about this band, when he was playing the guitar neck the "bass" role was filled by his brother - as on this tune - playing baritone sax through an octave pedal through a bass amp. That sax sounded pretty cool.

I like the look of them too. They used to make Talmans at several price points... doesn't look like they do anymore, but the TMB2000 was pricey, around $1500 if I recall.

It also sounds/looks like he's palm muting a lot. Unusual to see that with fingerstyle, I think I would find it difficult. Clearly he's a good player.
I also love the middy roar of a bird with roundwounds, but they do sound nice with darker tones like rolling off the tone control.

RIP Tina. I am truly saddened by her loss. One of a kind, she earned her legendary status.
So much drama in her voice. She was like an actor-singer.

I always liked this song from the 80s (here the tempo is rather amped up but it seems to work in a stadium)
