Another note about long-scale hollows - many of them do have a neck dive problem. I know that my 32" scale Gretsch 5123 is a bit of a diver, and i went to an extra-long suede strap to fight that.  IIRC, my Casady was a diver.

Due to the fondness that Bill and I have for short scale basses, I don't always perceive this as a problem.  My new Psycho Cabbie is a shorty (and that's my 5123 behind it...)

Yep, a long neck on a hollow body is a typical diver.  That's why I placed my bridge low on the body to bring the neck into the body farther.  It really helps.  The long upper horn also aids the situation.

Been working on wiring.  What a pain!  My wiring channels are too small for all of the wires I'm trying to cram through them.   Didn't see that coming with the switches and extra vol control.  Duh.    So I'm redrilling all of the channels which is difficult on a painted body.  Have to be so careful!  Maybe some progress will be made tomorrow.   :-\

I like it better than my second design.  Nice job.  I think you've hit in a nice look there.

Great looking bass. I can't for the life of me, however, understand why many manufacturers who build hollow and semi-hollow basses don't make them in a long-scale version.

I agree.  Mine are long scale.   ;D

God bless ya, laddie!  I'm envious and happy for you.  I feel the same way about our home and the view out the back.  Hope you have decades of happiness there!

You've already "got one" Bill... deflate that GAS now...!

Always room for one more!  Besides, I'd refinish it if it were mine.   8)

I might know of one for sale  ;)

Wish it was in the US.  Overseas shipping has gone through the roof.   :-\

Except for the bridge I agree.   Don't recognize the logo; one of yours?

Why would I put a Gibson logo on it?  First, I built it.  Second, my QC is far superior to theirs!  I wouldn't want their logo on it.

Yep, Gibson did the cheaper satin unfilled finish on the ss TB.  They are nice little basses but I don't see their resale value going up any time soon.  I'd like one for my collection, but wouldn't pay over original retail for one.

Gibson Basses / Re: I hesitate to post this. $45 Thunderbird pickups.

That was a good description if you ask me! Thanks!

I'm planning to replace the original pickups in my '76 with these. Do I need rings or can I use the originals?

Also, as I have to change the wiring, what pots? 500 or 250 kOhms?

The China buckers come with rings and screws.  I use 500 Pham in the vol and 300 or 250 on the tone.  300 ohms are hard to find and cost double the 250.  I can't say I can hear a difference.

Kenny Chesney is from Luttrell and used to play Morristown, where I'm from, almost every week. He sucked then too, but for some reason women fawn over that Kermit-looking warbler. Such is life.

On another, more melancholy note, my old band also covered "Mama Tried" and worked on "Swinging Doors" before the old rhythm guitarist vetoed it. I think Merle would like this cover and I'll see about finding some of my band's old ones.

A lot better than Kenny on ACM!  I liked it.  I have to say, when it comes to modern roll, I'm liking the alternative stuff better than the mainstream fair.  Although I'm still a DMB fan, you can't find him on the radio any more around here.

Looks great! Fingers crossed, Doc.

Thanks Carlo!  I'm hanging in there.

He probably did somehow hang on until his birthday. And mercifully that did prevent any retrospective by people who probably know very little of his life and career.

Good points, Dave.  I can just guess who's in charge of the ACM awards production.
