If that came in long scale I could even live with the headstock badge. I like it!

Don’t forget the Cafe Walter.

I still use my headphone amp regularly. That is, when I can get it away from my 15 year old son. I love that thing.

TIs and the Pit got me to try flats for the first time, but as soon as I tried some Chromes (and then LaBellas) a few years later, I was done ever wanting or buying TIs again. I'm glad I learned about them though because for some reason I'd never considered flats before then.

Old 97s are a really good band but not one I would have expected in that setting. I guess I should read up and see what made the whole thing come together.

So that - after the cleansing process - their singing would be more in key, you mean?

More for their hair than anything else.

I remember your names being XDresser and Nudeshot, weren't they?

Gibson Basses / Re: Music videos that feature Gibson Les Paul basses...

I love that she comes across totally as a kid. I would be very surprised if that wasn't sincere (I've seen a few kid actors who sounded like 40 year olds when the camera wasn't on them). Her utter joy in nailing those lines was infectious and made me want to hit the woodshed. Judging by her variety and number of basses, she makes a perfect (honorary) Outposter.

Mark Mendoza (the other one) grabbers you by the balls with New York’s finest …

Was this band ever sponsored by Q-tip?

I can't remember if I changed my name there but when I joined I was 69'Vette and also joined (2002) looking for info on a Gibson bass I saw on eBay. After one post and all the info it got me, I was hooked.

Nope, you probably meant Sabbath, Rob has stepped in for Dio  (when he didn't want to sing as an opener to his predecessor on Ozzfest) and for Ozzy directly (when the latter was out of it for a gig) with them.

I was at Irvine Meadows Pacific Amphitheater, in Southern CA, for that show. I found it kind of fun for novelty sake, but I don't think that pairing would ever have worked. I was bummed that Ronnie refused to share a stage with Ozzy.

Edit made because my 30 year old memories were a little fuzzy. Imagine that!

The Outpost Cafe / Re: The Beatles' Revolver Box Set
« on: November 02, 2022, 07:04:17 PM »
I bought my first Beatle bootleg sometime in the late 70s but wasn't aware of any more until I lived in England, 84-86. The bootlegs I bought there were cassettes bought in market stalls.

A few years later (once I was buying CDs), I found a CD called Backtrack 1, which led me to find Backtrack 2 and 3, and it became a bit of an obsession because I LIKE trainspotting with Beatle songs and outtakes. The Artifacts box sets were more interesting to me than the official Anthology set (even if that one benefited from the tapes being cleaned up a bit.

As of tonight (after I ripped the deluxe Revolver set), I have 323 Beatle CDs in my iTunes, I'm guessing less than 75 of those are downloaded or copied from others. A lot of it is repeated (The Singles set, the EP set, the first CD box set, the 2009 stereo remasters, the mono set, the Capitol version, etc.), but like I said, trainspotting... I don't listen obsessively to all of it (the complete Get Back session Nagra tapes can get a bit tedious), but I'm happy to shell out $125 a pop so long as Giles finds a way to get new mixes out of those old session tapes. I like having such clean mixes that allow me to hear everything they originally recorded on each track.
