I've always been a Pepsi man.

I'm surprised this bird isn't already winging its way to Germany.

More proof that the sound comes from the fingers. Yes it sounds like a vintage bird, but it sounds like Tom Petersson playing a vintage bird, even without his phalanx of tube filled stacks.

This the P I lust over. I could do maple or rosewood fingerboard and be just as happy. My bass mentor in High School (I, a lowly Sophomore and he, a cool worldly Senior playing bass in both the marching and Jazz bands) had one just like the above. To this day I love that combo. I bought a Japanese 70s P like that a few months back, but it did nothing for me (sound wise), so I sold it on. One day...

I've seen two or three Bicentennials go for around $2500-2800 on Buyee over the last year. It's a Japanese auction aggregator that charges a very small fee for any item won. The item is then shipped to them, and they ship it to you. Some people don't like to buy that way but it's worked pretty well for me once I figured out the oddities. If buying online is something you are OK with, you could check it out. Since they started shipping to the U.S. again, it costs about $200 a pop, so I just add that into my consideration whenever anything interesting pops up.

One you're signed up, this link will take you to electric basses (they sell just about everything available by auction or online in Japan, so it can be hard to find the right category):

https://buyee.jp/item/search/category/2084019034

The main thing I'd add is that there's a lot of junk that gets posted (and misidentified) among some decent stuff, so take a good look at the photos, descriptions (there's a decent translation widget) and any links to the original auction site (sometimes they have more photos).

Speaking of Slayer, this tickled me. Not saying that they're an old folks band...

The scary thing is while they might not be quiet that old, there are plenty of grandmas who were old enough at the time to see  (and flash) Slayer 35-40 years ago.

She can sing, has a voice and at one point she must have also seen a Blondie album in her parents' vast record collection. Debbie wants her look back.

You don't say...

Just to be clear, I haven't been listening to this lately.

I never scroll by a buckets clip.

I only ever saw these on my phone (I'm on my desktop now), so I never realized they're not just dressed the same; they're all him. The green screen is obvious in the Reaper clip. Somehow that made me love these even more.

Oh, it's orange, lol. It's like a really bright mac & cheese. Monitors and cameras will vary, however, but here it is - I changed out the knobs...

Thank you!

That's what a Ric with rounds should sound like! IMHO of course.

Yep. Great sound and I really like that part.

So it's already got a bit of honest relicing... She's a beauty, Scott!

There will be one in California Coral arriving here tomorrow. I already have plans for the knobs and pickguard. I'm sure a set of DR short scale Sunbeams will be warranted as well.

Please let us know whether it looks as orange in person as it does in the stock photos. With a name like that I was expecting a little more reddish or pinkish. Could be my monitor as well... I'm interested in how that one looks in person.

You guys have given it a nice Tom Petty treatment, Herr Carlston!

Thank you, my friend! My bandmate playing the Dano 12 said he was aiming for McGuinn but kept hitting Petty (who seems to have been aiming for McGuinn as well; in the early days at least).

As we start to lose more and more of the musicians we grew up with, I think celebrating them and/or their music is fitting. I was never much a fan of the man, but Crosby's parts are always super fun to sing, so I can celebrate him that way.

I like the heavy arrangement, but even if I was lukewarm on that, the fact that she sings that last "won't desert you" in perfect pitch is enough to make me love this version!
