The Bass Zone / Serek Midwestern
« on: January 16, 2023, 02:13:01 AM »
I saw King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard on the 6th of January in New Plymouth (Great Show) and their Bassist Lucas Skinner was playing a Serek Midwestern . He had a pretty gnarly sound but it sounded great - anyone seen these?

Gibson Basses / 2019 T bird
« on: February 02, 2019, 06:47:15 PM »
So on the website it says:Electronics

Neck Pickup
Rhythm T-Bird

Bridge Pickup
Lead T-Bird

Controls
HP-4 High Performance Circuit featuring: 2 Push/Pull Volumes, 2 Push/Pull Tones, 3-Way Toggle Switch and Internal 5-Position DIP Switch

So i am wondering if they are new pickups or a coil tap added to TB+ pickups. Interesting.

Gibson Basses / Ripper midrange circuit
« on: April 01, 2018, 11:06:57 PM »
Just put one of these circuits in my Eb4l (has a rear pickup).Tried it at a gig-most useful for getting a dubby sound ,i dial it down to 2 for that. Some things i noticed about it -there is a residual midrange cut even on 10,so i added a switch. With the 0.1 uf cap there is a small ammount of cut in the fundamental range,so i have used a 0.047uf cap and that worked for me.

Gibson Basses / Mudbucker taming
« on: December 15, 2016, 03:09:49 PM »
So once upon a time i had the 66 eb3 front pickup plus a thunderbucker in the back position of my eb4l .Both nice sounds but i could not get them to mix.I wired the bass with a stereo jack -when it gets to my ampeg preamp the mudbucker goes in the normal input but the rear pickup goes through a behringer mic 100 preamp(cheap valve/tube preamp) and then in to the bright input of the preamp. This stops the pickups loading each other .I like it a lot-im getting the bulldozer bass and the full sound of the rear pickup finally hurrah!

Gibson Basses / hipshot on eb4l
« on: April 16, 2011, 07:09:43 PM »
well i bought a hipshot supertone, the 3 point type, for my eb4l.i ilke it,more even sound between the strings, sounds like my bass only  better-all good EXCEPT with the saddles all screwed right down and the bridge right down on the body the action is still too high.darn.any suggestions?im thinking it might be off to the luthier to get the bridge recessed into the body about 5 mm and the post holes the same amount.yes i know i could try the 3 point again but i have 3 and i have never been satisfied with them.p.s. the eb4l is not in ,shall we say, collectable condition.

Gibson Basses / oops
« on: November 29, 2010, 01:03:58 AM »
well the other day i was sitting at this this very computer when i pushed my chair back -crash-my eb2 hit the floor.broken headstock.bad words may have been said.anyways, i got talking to the luthier that built my guitar and he has the eb2 at the moment and is repairing it.the headstock had been broken before and repaired roughly so it will be interesting to see how it goes.http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff246/tonypbass/DSCF0019.jpg[/img]]
