Great to see that the first BaCHbird has arrived in the USA.
How do you like it Mojo Hobo?

How do I like it? How can I not like it? My first impression was that it was heavier than I expected. But in reality it is only slightly heavier than my Gibson bird, and not as heavy as my P bass. The neck is quite comfortable, it arrived set up and ready to play. The tone is somewhat unremarkable though, I'm going to try different strings, but I'm not sure which ones yet.

I got the blue BaCHbird.

I guess I got lucky, Gary was on the list before me, but after seeing the first pictures in this thread of the blue and black birds I sent an email to Roman requesting a blue one. The next day the invoice showed up in my inbox.  I went to the bank to wire transfer that day. More than a week later Roman sent an email that it had shipped, and because of the length it had to go EMS. It arrived exactly a week later.

Actually, I was wondering how long to let it get acclimated to this side of the earth before I open the box.

Good news. I thought they would eventually figure out a way.

How long after payment did it take to to get to you?

It was seventeen days, but during the first ten or so they figured out that the bird was too long for whatever method they originally wanted to use. However it was only six days after I go the email saying it had been shipped.

Could it be possible that Heriba made them for Dunlop at one time? I distinctly remember having a pick with the textured circle with "Western Germany" around it. It was a gray pick, tradional shape,  and I really liked it.

That was in Illinois, BTW. And I did once own a Hofner, maybe the pick came with it. And all this was a long time ago.

Their address is on my invoice. I just printed the invoice, took it to my bank branch and asked for a wire transfer. When I told her the amount in Euros she said we can't do that, and I told her of course you can. Turns out they can, they deducted the amount from my checking account, and also deducted a $73.00 International Bank Transfer Fee.

Thats was really funny, good thing he can't or does not sing.

It does look like he has a vocal mic.

Fender Basses / Re: Made in USA, or not

I just got some genuine Fender parts for a Precision. The knobs are made in USA, so are the pickups, but the CTS pots are made in Taiwan.

I like it, especially the bass.

What is so bad about Carousel? they say original Broadway cast or national tour, or an artist who owns any copy. Does that include the movie soundtrack? Didn't the Beatles do a song from Carousel? How can you tell if they owned a recording? My sister had the movie soundtrack, so I became quite familiar with it.

I like the cover art displayed for the first choice, but I don't get what Cher has to do with Greek or Latin etymology.

The metric system is a solution in search of a problem.

I think it is a solution to a problem that has been solved. I own some metric tools (and a twenty year old Toyota), but before that were the MG's and Triumph's. Metric wrenches make sense, 10, 13, 17, nice even numbers. I just looked to make sure I didn't dream it, I do have a 19/32" wrench. Who would make a fastener that needs a 19/32" wrench when you could use a more standard size like 8/16" or 5/8"? The British, that's who. Somewhere on a 1961 MG there is a need for a 19/32" wrench, maybe on the SU carbs. At least the metric system fixed that. Maybe not, now I have twice as many wrenches as I had before.

For our European friends 7/16", 1/2", 5/8" are close in size to 10, 13, and 17, and of course we also have a bunch more.

Maybe the metric system does make sense.

I'm not sure amateur is an apt description. I think hobbyist might be a better term for those of us who have been playing for many years, do get paid to play, but don't make a living doing it.

"The Blues ain't what you're singing, the Blues is what I feel." Buddy Guy.

The 12 bar form using the I - IV - V chords that is basic to the blues can be found in all types of music.

The song "Crossroads" as done by Robert Johnson is Blues, by Cream it's Rock, by Buckwheat Zydeco it's Zydeco, Acousticure does it Bluegrass.

I'm sure some one can define it in scientific terms (Wikipedia) but the blues is what you feel.
