Other Bass Brands / Faber PaddleBass
« on: September 16, 2009, 02:43:06 AM »
Hi guys,

A guy in Holland modified basses for a lot of years. After some prototyping he's going to make a very nice, but also very strange bass: The Faber PaddleBass. He's gonna build it in small quantities for a nice price. I will soon review one for the magazine.

At first I didn't think much about the looks, but after a while it grew on me and now I like it a lot. It's a bit Steinberger, a bit Gretsch Billy Bo Jupiter Thunderbird Bass, a bit machine gun, all blended. The body's mahogany and it has a series/parallel switch for the J-pick ups.

Well, watch for yourself:

Gibson Basses / Boilersuit
« on: September 10, 2009, 06:23:19 AM »
A couple of weeks ago we recorded five new songs with Boilersuit. Four will appear on an EP soon and the fifth will be remixed by a famous DJ. As soon as the songs are ready, I'll post 'm here. Some pics of recording it in our own German bunker.

Gibson Basses / Mr. Sixx basses
« on: September 10, 2009, 01:25:11 AM »
Hi guys,

I wasn't around that much here, but know I'm doing a hell of a job reading all unread posts.

Last week I bought German magazine Guitarre und Bass. I have no scanner, but I'll try to make some pics of it. In it is an interview of Nikki Sixx about his Thunderbirds. The big picture at the article is one of Nikki with a Spector (?) Bird with P/J pick ups, which isn't mentioned in the article. But in it are some nice pics of different Thunderbirds, all with different finishes. One with a rusty look, one with some kind of Maria on it. Very nice!

Hi guys,

I'm a bit to busy last couple of weeks with work, organising a festival and recording with two bands. But I'll be back soon. Of course with four new Boilersuit songs and a new La La Lies song!

Someone posted this at the Warwick forum. My Warwick contacts don't know it either, but it is a Stryker/Buzzard headstock and the rest is very Warwick-ish too. At first I didn't like it, but now I'm getting used to it:)

I love the fact that this guy batters his Epi by installing some P electronics and Epi still features him in an interview!

Guitars Etc. / My girlfriend ordered her first Gibson yesterday.
« on: June 28, 2009, 02:20:16 AM »
A big day!

My girlfriend Loes has some nice and affordable guitars: An Epiphone Sheraton completely modified over the years with Gibson pots, bridge, switch and so, a reissue '72 Tele Thinline, a nice Guild acoustic and she owned and sold an Epiphone SG and sparkle red LP. Oh, and I gave her a Hello Kitty Strat;) She still has that one.

Her weapon of choice the last couple of months is a sunburst '57 reissue Epiphone Les Paul jr. The one with set neck and a P100. A very cheap but als a very nice guitar. Some Gibson players were impressed by it. But yesterday she ordered the real deal: A white reissue '58 LP jr. in white. From the cheaper series with thin laquer. We hope it's in within a week or so.

Loes (for the last time?) with Epi Jr.:

Gibson Basses / I took my SG RI out this weekend.
« on: June 22, 2009, 07:00:41 AM »
I love the looks and sound of my SG Reissue Bass but in one way or another I don't take her out that much. This weekend I decided to give her a spin. Those pics were made during a Boilersuit gig. The next day I used it again with the La La Lies and those pics will follow later. I had a Boilersuit gig too that day (three gigs in two days) and I used my 50s P for that.

Ken send me a vintage '81 AC/DC shirt and it fits like a glove! Thanks Ken! I wanted to post this much and much earlier, but I had some troubles with my camera. That's solved now!

As you see I try to get rid of the Doug Fyghter metal image! :)

Thanks Ken! I'll gig in it!!

BTW: The backside reads 'D-Day' so I'll use that another time if I need to bully Uwe.
