Daniel, in the US that depends on where it's imported from. A stringed instrument is duty free from a lot of countries, very little duty from others, depending on trade agreements, but can be 40% for the few countries that we don't have normal trade relations with.

Interesting one Mr D...

Not so up on these... hasn't Uwe got a Blue one... vaguely remember a car related thread... ("Ripper Blue")

He does have a blue Ripper (or is it a Grabber?) but it might be a factory paint job or a pro refin.

That sounds much lighter than usual. Price is right. Looks good. Congrats.  :)

Let me rephrase that. The dog and me and enough turkey for both of us.  ;)

As you can see, the poor little girl is skinny.  ;D

Nicely done review. I have no idea what the market might be for something like this, guess we'll have to wait and see.

That sounds good.

This year it's just the dog and me. I'm fine with that.

No, Saab Automobile has been completely separate from Saab AB for years.

Do I need to have hair, mustache and a suit like that to play a Ripper with two mudbuckers in it?

Yes, and a time machine to take you to the mid 70s.

I hear Rob is working on a G5. Sort of like the Gillette Fusion, the more blades (or blade pickups) the better.  ;D

Psycho Bass Guy has told us what happened, and it's really too bad, but let's not pile on TB here.

No sponsors or their endorsers to tiptoe around here, thank goodness.

It has potential.

I'm sure I would want to change the paint.  :)

Gibson Basses / Re: QUESTION about the Nut Material on early 60's EB-3
« on: November 24, 2009, 11:13:25 PM »
It probably just means electric bass. But again, I don't think the EB series is formica. I've never seen nut blanks that shape, maybe they were hand profiled.

As always, I could be wrong.

Koenigsegg backs out of Saab deal

Worst car I ever owned was my 74 Saab 99. Still I hate to see the brand go by the wayside, and that looks like a real possibility.

I don't mean to imply that it's any kind of disservice. It's just not the Faces.

I found this, which says the material was "nylon 6/6" on Gibson electrics in the 50s and 60s. But I don't think the big quarter round nut on the EB series is any kind of nylon.

Just search for Sprague orange drop capacitors, they're easy to find. Sorry, I don't know the values of either the tone pot or cap.
