Bass Amps & Effects / Re: Ibanez Bass Tube Screamer

I tried one at the Messe. I think it's a great pedal. Sounds great. The mix function is fantastic.
Plus I like the simplicty of the controls. They work exactly like you think they would. Which is not always the case with effects pedals...

Gibson Basses / Re: Uwe's pics from Frankfurt Muskikmesse
« on: April 10, 2011, 03:30:15 AM »
I was at the Messe for two days. And I met Uwe, which was fantastic.
Uwe made me feel very welcome. Showed me Ze Kollekshun of course.
He let me play every bass while he was at work (or was he just posting here?)  ;D
He even lent me his bike to get to the Messe. No, it wasn't a Dutch bike. ;)

We had the most delicious diner (hmmm lambchops!)
And then we went to Uwe's appartment to meet Edith and the the other half of his Kollekshun (the Non Gibson part)

We jammed a little bit. I found at that Uwe is a much better bass player than I am.

Thank you for your hospitality and your generosity Uwe.
BIG HUG!
 :toast:

At the Messe I got overwhelmed by all the bas guitars, amps, effects, noise(!) and of course the gratuitous slapping.
I do like the looks of the new oversized Les Pauls and the Double cut. The double cut has a beautiful blue grey finish. I guess that's what Pelham blue looked like.
Too bad there was no chance of playing them as they were locked in their hangers... The only two bass guitars you could actually play were the SG RI and the Epi JCS.

Thanx Scott.
I read about this pedal and I immediately thought it might be the perfect pedal for me.

Been using the Technophobia Basscreamer that Bernardduur (Rogier) built for a while ago, but lately I can't seem to get the sound I want anymore.
Now that I've read you post I think I should try the Ibanez for sure.

The Outpost Cafe / New Superfloor recordings
« on: April 05, 2011, 05:44:19 AM »
A while ago we recorded a gig in our local pub with a 24 track hard disk recorder. Just for ourselves to do some pre-production for the new album; See if everything is in place. Maybe decide to change some things in the songs. Try some different mixes. You get the idea.
Anyway, here's a few of the new songs that we have. Just the live recordings as we played them. A rough and honest mix. No overdubs.

The Outpost Cafe / Re: Favorite Bowie covers

Here's my favorite Bowie cover.

It's Five Horse Johnson doing It Ain't Easy.
I saw them live in Paradiso, Amsterdam only a few days after 9-11.
It was supposed to be an evening with three bands, but they were the only band that had dared to fly to Europe.
We got our money back at the door, but Five Horse Johnson played anyway. An extra long gig. For about 40 visitors  :o

It was great:
Low down and dirty blues rock

There's cars almost hitting people all the time!
My Goodness, this is what traffic anarchy looks like  :o
This film is a little slowed down, so in real life it must have been worse even...

What scale is it? Medium?

kids will always listen to the stuff they want to. and in 20 years i don't think many kids will be listening to you. you will take your current audience along with you and maybe pick up some youngsters along the way. that's how i see it anyway for any decent bands not consistantly playing the newest  crap out there. like someone stated before it's mostly older folks you see at shows these days.

That someone was me ;)

4872
i really don't care if young people discover 'real' music or not.

Well I do. I like to have an audience when we play with our band. Now and in the future

I agree with Uwe.

But,
I'd like to add that the musical landscape is becoming quite stale the last few years.
I've noticed a substantial decrease in the interest for live music lately.
The average age a of concert visitor seems to be 40+.

There's a whole generation who has never been introduced with live music other than what they see being performed on TV in shows such as Idols, X Factor et al.
For all they know all that music is about is some nondescript girl singing way too many scales and bends along with a tape or at best a hired studio band that accompanies every contestant.

Ever noticed that MTV doesn't broadcast any music any more? Simply because the younger audience doesn't care anymore.

Of course there will always be the exceptions; Young kids that start a band and make great music that kick our sour old butts. But the majority of the young people have no idea what a band really is. Simply because the media doesn't offer that kind of entertainment anymore.

Is it really a Gibson?
The edges of the body look kinda sharp to me. Shouldn't they be rounded off more?
The pickup looks non original too. The radius of the edge looks too sharp in that pic you posted.
The serial number is in a strange location.
The tail of the pickguard looks a little blunt in the pic.

Did someone pimp a BaCHbird?

Looks like his Ibanez Roadster.

My guess too.
Like this one, but with creme colored pickups
