the best thing is a chance to roadie for Uriah Heep on a European gig!!!

Is that a prize?  :o

Arrive earliest at the venue.
Wreck your back on all the heavy amps and speakers.
Eat lousy food
Get bored stiff all day (if you're lucky you get to polish the guitars. But don't actually dare to play them!)
When the gig is over -and the after party starts- you can go back wreck your back again to put the gear back in the truck
You're the last to leave.
Get in the truck and drive 500 kilometers to the next gig

And you have to pay to do this?

Gibson Basses / Re: Bash the new Gibson Bass!!!

I like it. Like Uwe said: it's a nice nod to the Gibson past.
I saw it in Frankfurt at the Messe. The color looks beautiful in real life.

The nice chap from Gibson that I spoke with told me they changed the neckjoint area on purpose because the original double cut EB-0 had a very weak neckjoint. I think that makes sense.

I do miss the pickguard though...

Gibson Basses / Red Ripper AC/DC video
« on: May 05, 2011, 03:31:52 PM »
Well almost entirely red.
Looks like a sunburst, but most of the burst is obscured by the huge pickguard.

Must have been a custom color? I thought they only produced tobacco burst Rippers?

Seeing this video made my day. What a fun band!
You gotta love Bon with the bagpipes and the frantic grin on his face  ;D

Jon's jab about Coverdale's voice is fed by his disappointment of David going helium/Robert Plant in eighties Whitesnake, Lord's preference (as all the singers on his solo work attest) is the gravelly baritone voice type. More Joe Cocker than Percy Plant.

Are you sure about that Uwe?
Don't you think he means David's voice is totally shot, and needs more than just a little help from backing tapes on stage?

Wow, philosophical

If that's what it is.
I'd like to know what happened. Nobody (here) seems to know exactly.

Bill Withers got fed up with the music industry and just quit making records.
But at least he told us.

Jake E Lee didn't really quit, but he just makes half hearted productions. (Fine Pink Mist, Running With the Devil - VH tribute, Retraced)
Seeing that video -that I posted here- made me think something must have gone terribly wrong with him.

EDIT:
some more sad stuff.

That shemale drummer/singer claims they're really a band. With "legendary" bass player (who seems to have studied really long and hard on an intriguing look with curled eyebrows). They're gonna do a "big festival with Paul McCartney headlining"...

original "composition" by the drummer. Must have been a HUGE monkey

Something is definitely wrong

Then he didn't eat any.
I think he just had bean soup...

Okay I can understand that some artists get fed up with touring.
But why should that get in the way with creating great studio albums?
The guy is a genius on guitar, but he hasn't made a decent album since Badlands split...

He doesn't see too well but I don't know if that plays into his not being very active these days.

Hey that never stopped Jeff Healey!  ;)

I like Jake's playing and would love to hear something new.

Does anybody know what happened to Jake E Lee?
His work with Ozzy was excellent. And all three Badlands albums are still among my all time favorites.
Amazing guitarist with a very recognizable style.

But he's been off radar for over a decade.
I bought his Retraced album, which was just a disappointing bunch of cover songs.
I had hoped this would be sort of a teaser for the audience to announce his return. But after that nothing happened.

He seems to be in a three piece band doing pubs gigs in Vegas.
WHY?

Their drummer is a horrible singer. The guitar solo is a train wreck.
Drunk ass in the audience makes it even worse.

What is the story?
Alcohol? Drugs? Some other illness?

Agreed, it doesn't look like poo at all.
It looks like dried up puke.

Former DEEP PURPLE keyboardist Jon Lord told U.K.'s Classic Rock magazine .......................

"I must admit I'd also have a concern or two about David's voice."

Case closed.  8)

So that leaves me with a bass that looks a little too small for me (I'm 1.89 meters) - it's an issue with all short scales not just this little Babybird which as short scales go doesn't even look that tiny but still too small to look and feel right on me.

Most short scale basses are still bigger/longer than electric six string guitars.
So I think it's kinda weird that bass players say a short scale bass looks too small on them, whereas guitarists -who are generally the same size as bassists- never complain a regular Strat or LP looks too small on them?

Cool project(s) !
