I have an Epi with a neck plate that mentions both Nashville and Korea.



Can I pretend it was made in Tennessee?

Both my old Epi T birds had this same neck plate.

Nickel allergies are a real thing and it's well known in the medical device industry. Implantable devices like staples, ligating clips, etc often had nickel in them. When it was discovered that a decent percentage of the population had nickel allergies, which are compounded when the device is inside your body, manufacturers started offering implantable in titanium, tantalum and certain polymers.

Nickel is also a component of the chroming process, which is pretty toxic and sites which formerly handled or produced components of the process often require serious environmental cleanup.

He's mentioned Nike and Harley-Davidson as brand role models before - and I guess they are: very established international brands that have long transcended their orginal core products.

In case Henry didn't notice, Harley is closing their Kansas City plant.

 

There was a beautiful New Old Stock one for sale a while ago, on Reverb.

Damn, that sure is pretty. If I remember correctly, it went for a pretty reasonable sum.

I doubt Epi will be hit too hard but Henry will probably cut every bit of excess he can. Gibsons are probably doing reasonably well too. It's the consumer electronics businesses that are the far bigger problem. Nowhere near enough to service the debt they took on.

Unless he unloads all that non-guitar stuff I don't see how they'll be able to handle that debt. Yeesh, that's a lot of jack.

I hope they don't hit Epiphone too hard since it seems to be the one part of the company that does well.
