You pulled those links so quickly, Uwe. It's almost like you were just watching and enjoying them. :)

Ouch, now what did I do to deserve such scathing ridicule and mockery, Denis?

The Outpost Cafe / Anyone heard from Hörnisse?
« on: August 07, 2022, 07:33:43 AM »
Has anyone heard from Hörnisse (Bobby De La Cruz) lately?
I see he was last active hear in 2017 but I kept up with him on FaceBook, asking each other to look at basses we were interested in each other's towns, etc.
I haven't heard from him since January and his FB account seems to be gone, he's unavailable on Messenger and emails to him here, through regular email and calls to the number I have have gone unanswered.
If anyone knows anything, let me know, please.
Hope he's okay.
Thanks!
Denis

Just realised the Guilds ones were black. Sorry!

No worries! A buddy did tell me that Hagstrom made the original Guild Bisonic bass pickups. Could be why they looked familiar to you!

I was trying to figure out what Hagstrom bass that neck was originally from and stumbled across a Hagstrom which had the same pickups and knobs.

That's the kind of burst I like.

Surprised Fatdawg is still around.

It's a very nice burst indeed. I read somewhere recently that Kawai build these bodies for Danelectro.

When I talked to the guy at Subway the other day he said that Fatdawg has some health issues and only comes in about one day a week.

I'd use Gotoh resolite  GB640 4L N

They're extremely lightweight.

ROb, do those Resolites require new holes to be drilled into the headstock or are the direct replacements?

I somehow YouTube rabbit-holed my way to this band not too long ago. Cool stuff. I'd like to see them live.

Good stuff! I've been switching back and forth between them and Renaissance.

Been a while since I've logged in: I hope everyone is well!

Thought I'd share a photo of my latest: a Coral/Hagstrom Longhorn built by Subway/Fatdawg Guitars in the 1980s. I sent them a photo and they said they could still build a few using NOS Coral Longhorn bodies, but they wouldn't use a Hagstrom neck. Apparently they are pretty rare and valuable.
I think the pickup and knobs are also Hagstom.

I have to deal with the bizarre ground wire, but the bass plays, sounds and looks great!

Started out lately with "Everyone Knows This is Nowhere", then went to CCR, then a bunch of surf.

I always thought the natural ones looked terrific.

Gibson Basses / Epi Vintage Pro question: fake?
« on: March 13, 2020, 07:42:02 AM »
Ran across a white Vintage Pro Thunderbird last night at a local store.
It had lots of paint flaws in the back: thin spots, spots that looked like a different shade of white, cracks in the paint about 2" below the spot where T birds traditionally break, etc.

The back of the neck itself almost looked like a satin finish whereas the body was a gloss white.
The serial number was stamped into the headstock, but covered with a sticker with another number.
Also stamped into the headstock above the tuners was "2nd".

My Vintage Pro has the serial number silkscreened in gold and was made in Indonesia.

If this white one really is a Vintage Pro made in Indonesia, why would they bother to send a "2nd" to the US?

Is there such a think as a fake Epi Tbird, as ludicrous as it sounds?

Thanks, all!
I really like this bass. It's a good size, sounds great and is a really nice surprise! That pickup is terrific!

I'm looking for the Silvertone badge for the headstock. The guy who sells them on eBay sells only the small ones for the dolphin headstock.
