If they use the same length neck, they'd have to fret it at different places to accommodate the different scale - right?

That's because it's a standard sized neck with a deeper body joint to make it short scale.
i was the tallest guy in my class until ninth grade. the bullies were always the little guys. after i crushed one i had no more problems. i didn't get expelled either. ;
why they want to pick on big guys is beyond me.
I think it's just a regular CMT body from the last run of RD guitars they did. Nothing special about it and certainly no maho content.
