The Outpost Cafe / Re: Autism from Vaccines?

Well spoken, Dave. As a parent, I am well aware that "issues" can arise seemingly out of the blue. Why did my older son develop an anxiety disorder at age 11? Who knows... Alot of it is genetics, and for some this is a bitter pill to swallow. Some things just happen, and in the absence of definitive proof (as in the cigarettes-lung cancer connection), that's how we must leave it, and move on to dealing with the problem.

Obviously these aren't going to be top quality strings - no argument there. Still, I'm curious as to what kind of bang for the buck I'll get at 66 cents per set.

You might not. They're the sort of dreadful quality Chinese strings that come standard on $99 basses. Still, at that price you could get your money's worth and more.

People rag on the SX OE strings all the time, but of the three SX basses I've bought, two still have the originals. The third (a P-thingie) just needed something a little more substantial than the ultra-lights it shipped with. I remember getting a deal on Danelectro bass strings a few years back that I thought was the shiznit until I realized they were 50-110s. To a guy like me who likes lighter gauges it was like playing on bridge cables.

Ok, this is final proof - we're in a deflation!!!   :o

I figure if I get ONE good set out of the bunch - it's still cheap!

Bass Amps & Effects / Re: New Orange

I thought the fist was a boost symbol.

Not really - viewed logically, one would think that was the case, but I've seen that same control labeled as "HF Drive" or "Presence" on models from the late 1970s, including my own '78 Overdrive 120. Orange was never about doing things "logically" though. In any case, it's the Orange equivalent of a presence control - though it doesn't act like the traditional "Marshall" version.

Gibson Basses / Re: Canary Yellow anyone?

No idea why good old TV yellow is now all of the sudden canary yellow. If I had a bass like that, I'd only play "Mustard Sally" with it all day long.

... or Todd Rundgren's "Yello, It's Me"

Bass Amps & Effects / Re: Just got an Ampeg SVT II Pro head today!!!
« on: April 18, 2009, 09:22:31 AM »
Can't go wrong there! That's about as close as you're gonna get to my '74 SVT in a modern bass head. Congrats!  :toast:

Does the SVT II even qualify as a "modern" bass head? It's been around so long it's almost vintage. And you're right - it's probably the closest thing to a classic SVT (as opposed to an SVT Classic).

I most reluctantly have to admit that my dear Mother has several Heino albums.................

I'll try to withstand the ridicule..... :-[

Not to worry, Mark.
The Outpost is a tolerant online community, where we celebrate and embrace...
Wait - did you say several Heino albums??

Skyline Decade with the upper horn partially obscured?

Nah - embedding is disabled, but the video is "Lifeline" by Papa Roach. The bass is visible at several points in the vid and it's clearly a NR bird style body. Besides, the Decade doesn't have a maple board.
