I'm with you, I think it's ok. Obviously, it seems to separate the men from the boys, but we'll keep quiet about that.

What's the German equivalent of giving someone the "raspberry"?

Agreed, IMO AC/DC ceased to be when Bon died.  Not that the new guy wasn't great but it was just never the same for me.

They were poised for success no matter who sang. HTH was the first step, and BIB was a click up in terms of commercial appeal. Their time had clearly come - it's just a shame Bon didn't get to experience the big splash.

The neck on those is the deal breaker for me too, it's just big for my small hands.
I have slim hope the Epi pro will be better..............A 5 string would be nice.

It's not simply the, er, umm, girth that bothers me - I have P-Basses that are big neckers - the Epi just feels uncomfortable compared to my '76, or my J-necks.

Saw them opening for Queen at MSG in 1978 (if memory serves - gotta look for the ticket stub). Note Gary Moore on guitar...

I wonder if they stayed with the 1.75" nut width, or went to the "proper" 1.5" like on the Epi Blackbird. That neck has always been the deal breaker for me.

Let's put it this way: He ain't no Alvin Lee when it comes to fluidity of runs ...

"Mmmm baby, I'll play the blues for you"
Fluidity was clearly not Ace's thing. There is something about his vibrato, and the trademark staccato picking ala "Firehouse", that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy - like I'm 15 again, riding home on the bus after purchasing Alive!
There's also the patented Ace "noise solo" ("Strange Ways", "Almost Human") that never gets old for me.

BadCo = Free minus the innovation.

More like Free minus the tortured souls. Koss' struggles with substance abuse and Fraser's with his sexuality are documented - but that kind of baggage always seems to produce great artists. While I liked Free alot, BadCo's songs were more complete and catchier that those old hay rotters.

Ya wanna talk about generic rock - try Bad Co!  :bored: LOL!

You're not listening closely enough - go buy the first two albums. A nearly perfect combination of blues, soul, rock and pop. Never mind that Paul Rodgers could just be the best all-around rock vocalist ever.
I have no axe to grind with the Foo Fighters, but I think their 15 minutes is just about up.

Just watched a DeNiro called "Hide And Seek" and whilst trying to remember another film we thought we had seen with Dakota Fanning in (which we thought this was but wasn't) and trying to remember why Famke Janssen looked familiar (duh...) stumbled on this...

Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie...? I don't think she's hit 16 yet...

Yah, old news. The documentary about them, "Edgeplay" is really good - even without support from Joan Jett. Very sad in parts, especially now that Sandy West is gone.

NJ's Motor Vehicle commission goes to great lengths to prevent "inappropriate" personalized license plates from slipping through the cracks. They have a staff dedicated to reviewing requests from every angle, even upside down and in mirrors. Very little gets by them.

I usually sell off stuff in order to acquire new toys. In addition, I'm pretty realistic as to what I GAS over - this past year I had the SX bass bug (3 times!) and concentrated on unfinished projects, so it's been relatively inexpensive on the whole.

At least neither GM nor Chrysler is at the top of this list: The Greatest Automotive Flops of the Last 25 Years

They are well-represented, though.

Whew.
At least they weren't models that I had any sort of affinity for.

I have my doubts whether this will work.  Not because the new guy is a bad singer, but because Udo Dirkschneider is like Ozzy in a way: Not technically a good singer at all, but almost impossible to replicate credibly. Stuff like Balls to the Wall is inane, yes, but/hence hard to bring across convincingly. Dirkschneider can/could do it just like only Ozzy can sing/shriek N.I.B. or "Gen'rals gath'ring in the masseeeeeeeeeeees ..." without sounding like a spoof.

That said, I always thought of Accept as the dumbed-down poor man's Judas Priest. Even when Priest went AC/DC with stuff like "You've got another thing coming ...", they retained some sophistication and elegance. I miss that with Accept which to me always sounded heavy-handed. But I hear some of their trademark riffing in Rammstein songs.

This is Accept's "Ripper Owens Moment". While Mark, IIRC, did sing an Accept ditty or two in the clubs with TT Quick, this will probably be little more than his opportunity to join the firm Owens, Cherone, Corabi & Turner (a partnership of trip-and-fall singers). The move will most likely prompt Udo to re-join at a later date. Ironically, TT Quick originally came of age in the  NY/NJ club scene as an AC/DC tribute band back around 1980-ish. They recorded some not to shabby metal albums after securing the services of Erik "Bam-Bam" Ferro on drums, the closest thing to Bonzo I've ever seen (meant in a good way).

I'm what I'll call a practical purist. I'm strictly Chrysler-propelled, but won't drive any of the rebadged/rebodied stuff (like the Crossfire, which was a Benz SLK in a Chrysler skin) or anything that has something other than a Chrysler mill (Mitsu 2.6L K-Bodies, early V6 minivans, anything with the "World" engine). I am, however open to some foreign-based component design - the tranny and rear in my '06 Charger are both Mercedes designs, and are markedly better than the Chrysler equivalents at this point in time. Now if they were still building the TorqueFlite, I'd be singing a different tune...
