The lawyers are scrambling as we type.   I wish Gibson gave all those options, I've always wanted block inlays.

Gibson Basses / Re: Ripper project - questions
« on: November 01, 2017, 07:17:53 AM »
Looks like it would make for a fun project.  One word of caution about Schaller BMs, the new ones have slightly longer shafts than the ones originally installed by Gibson.  My G3 had replacements on it when I got it and it wouldnt fit in the case anymore, not sure it would be a problem with the ripper case but I'd check before spending 75 bucks on a new set.   I found a set of vintage set that weren't Gibson branded and they fit perfectly, I think I paid 50 bucks on ebay for the set.

I have a friend that has one of those Seymore duncan pickups in his, he swears by it.

Interesting that they appear to have reverted back to the old TB+'s.

Caliper is hard to read with the shadows but it's a bit bigger than 5/8 (.72 inches) thats the grooves on the ferrule.   They're reverseable but are set up 2+2 so should work for you. Chrome bridge is some sort or badass copy, probably from an 80s Washburn or other Matsomoku bass.  I've also got about 20 years worth of strap buttons from switching mine out to strap locks.  PM me with you address and I'll get it all out to you Monday.  Look forward to seeing the end result!  :toast:

I've got a bucket of old parts that has some of what you need.   I know that theres a bridge off an old Washburn you can have and maybe some tuners.  Definately a bunch of strap buttons, Not sure about pickups but I'll have a look later today when I get back to the house.

They've sold Maestro's for a while haven't they?  All the rest of those are actually being sold by Sam Ash through Walmart.  Sears does the same thing.

Maybe they're using the heart of "Black & White Ebony" -  Diospyros malabarica.   The heart can have sections of light tan that could be big enough for a fingerboard.

Cordoba makes a guitar using it as back and sides, really pretty.

Look smaller in the picture than I would have expected. The player in the video must not be very big.

I watched that show, It was pretty good and I was bummed when it didn't come back. It took place in Memphis in 1972, so technically the flag makes more sense being there than the bass does  ;D
