Paul McCartney attaches his wireless transmitter and battery pack to the strap near the lower strap button to balance his >5lbs. Höfner.

The T-40 is shaped like a P bass. It would balance perfectly on a strap even if it weighed 9 lbs. Anything over that is unnecessary weight and does not improve the balance.

If I'm not mistaken, 61's had them, and by '62 Fender started using Jaguar pickups and 4 slider switches.

So Pino Palladino really made Fiesta-and-tort very popular, didn't he?

I remember when I was into this model. Mine was a mid-90's MIJ. I could get a good sound out of it, but never as good as a P or J. It's a very comfortable bass. 30" scale but the overall length is even longer than a P bass (because of the string afterlength). So it balances perfectly, LH fingerings are very easy, and yet the whole bass does not feel tiny like a Mustang, and the nut is exactly where your left hand expects it to be. As a 4-string with normal string spacing, this could work.

He can't play bass, but that's not necessarily a handicap. Think Leo Fender, Jim Marshall, Ned Steinberger.

Yep, the second video is quite nice. I'm glad old Steve can play something... wasn't sure until now. He certainly can't play bass, or even understand what a bass does in a song.

Not a Ric topic, but I don't mind some traffic in this barren outskirt of the LBO...

The horror. From TB.

As usual with Steve, no truss rod.

As crude and unrefined as it is, it still looks like Wishnevsky's best work  ;)

RED '98 4003 in "reverse trim" (chrome/white instead of the standard RED/BT) in Japan.

Seems like there's some color bleed into the binding. Like Midnight Blue did until RIC changed the formula. Wait... could that be the reason RIC opted for BT as standard on Red and Midnight Blue in those years?

Actually it's nicer than bright white binding, the red color bleed gives it an aged look.

It's a tad pricey.

Striped body and a set neck, a combination I will never understand.

Thanks, I never knew that.

As it turns out now, there is a way to supersize an LP body without messing up the classic shape...

Anyway, cool and unique collection, it must have felt great to complete the set. Or are you looking for the flat-top acoustic?

Why did Gibson alter the original LP body shape for these models?

Thanks for the feedback and support, guys. I'm not pursuing this. I'll just wait for another one.
