« on: August 30, 2013, 01:43:49 AM »Is this the place to raise the point that finish does not influence sound much ...It's a bass. They all sound pretty much the same to your listeners. OTOH what your audience can distinguish is color. So a cool finish may be more important than sound.
As you know, RIC currently makes only two bass models, 4003 and 4004, with no custom options available, and no new model to look forward to. So all we are left to toy with are finishes.

So most of the white ones were shipped to Germany and only 15 were made for the US market (and sold within 10 minutes). Uwe, or anyone else in Germany: do you know where I can locate one in Germany?

Vincent Gallo says he played it when it was on Craigslist, and didn't like it, neck too thin and high action. Maybe it had a good setup since then, before the recent photo session. Looks like it sold for $12,000 through craigslist and now being flipped.

« on: August 21, 2013, 01:15:35 PM »I'll bet you could buy a slightly used Ric, and have it re-finished in white for less than these will go for.And one day I'm going to do just that, but mine will have either double binding (pinstripe) or checkerboard, sort of a "White Shadow". And a RIHS, and toaster at 1/2" spacing.
