Gibson Basses / EB1 capacitor
« on: February 09, 2013, 10:52:31 AM »
Got buried in snow here in NH so figured it was a good time to ask around about my EB1's capacitor.
It looks like this outside my window

here's brown Betty

here's the cap

My query, does the .033 cap look stock? If not is there a better cap for this bass? Thanks, Ari  :)

The Bass Zone / The Animal Trainer & The Toad

Here's a fun tune to play on your bass. Felix Pappalardi's bassline for "The Animal Trainer And The Toad" by the band Mountain from their album Nantucket Sleighride.

This is the first time I tried this with finale notepad. I ended up printing and then scanning because I couldn't figure out how to upload the file as a pdf. If anyone has a suggestion how to do this, I'm all ears.

Day left on this one, no bites. Love my 07' money so much makes me gas for these too. The toggle is a 3 way pickup selector right? and knobs are v/t/v/t? The earlier unchambered carved tops without the toggle were all active I think. Thoughts?

The Bass Zone / Cream "Strange Brew"
« on: November 20, 2012, 09:47:21 AM »
Here's what Jack played. I guess he was miffed about how Felix Pappalardi used his bass line from Lawdy Mama and thought it didn't work as well on the newly arranged Strange Brew. Sounds good to me though. One interesting part of the line is when E.C. starts his solo at around the second page of my transcription, Jack pulls of some hefty whole tone bends. I think it works best by bending up to E from the 10th fret of the E string, bending up to D from the 8th fret of the E string and releasing back to the C. The next bar has a bend up to A from the 10th fret of the A string and a release back to G. Have fun folks.

Two tone 'burst over alder body with flame maple cap. #5 quartersawn satin neck. #5 = 1-3/4" wide at nut, Vintage C profile with 7.5" fingerboard radius. Great powerful mfd pick up that can make pick playing sound godly. This is a tight piece of bass!

The Bass Zone / She Caught The Katy transcription error in Bass Player
« on: August 04, 2012, 04:13:23 PM »
If anyone's checked out Brian Fox's transcription of Dunn's line in the Sept. issue of Bass Player you may notice a slight mistake. The Em7flat5 bars should be simply E diminished and the last two notes should be C natural and D flat. This is in bars 20, 36, 64 and 80.
