Gibson Basses / Re: '64 Thunderbird, (Sensitive viewers BEWARE!)

Seller has been all over asking about this bass. It's a pretty sad case,  I'd love a crack at it but shipping would kill it for me.

Cover tooling looks a little different and the rings are definitely different.

Yes the neck pickup is, not sure about the bridge but you know me and bridge pickups.

Hey guys, Someone on TB asked me to make a Demo of The Chain. I  used my Epiphone Vintage Pro Thunderbird through a Fender 200 Rumble. Thought you guys might like to hear it.

Gibson Basses / Re: Question about the tailstop of a Thunderbird

Advanced Plating makes my parts. I have had a similar issue with my tailpieces.  Mounting it at a slight angle helps or just slid the strings in through the side.  A pit of a pain if you are just changing a A or D string,  honestly I can't remember the last time I changed just one string.

No I don't think they are Chinabuckers. Epiphone I believe reversed engineered these.

Just checked my cover on my Grabber,  it's way to long.

She's a beauty TD. I wish Bill could have seen these. I think  he would have been pleased.  Oh we were relentless with the Gibson reps.

Gibson Basses / Epiphone Vintage Pro mini review

My Vintage Pro arrived yesterday only to be greated with a raised eyebrow from the missus.
I am very impressed with this bass, it really sounds like a 60's Thunderbird! I'll write some more thoughts later but for now this will have to do.

My reproduction cover should fit,  I will double check with my Grabber when I get home tonight.

Congratulations!  These are great basses though often maligned. A few years ago I bought a '73-'75 EB3 and it's a beast!  One of my favorite EB3s ever!

I have always found Jazz basses to be anemic.  While I am not a big fan of TB plus pickups they are sure to give your Jazz a kick in the ass, I say go for it.
