The Bass Zone / good place to sell parts
« on: March 31, 2009, 02:07:40 PM »
is ebay a good idea for selling parts?  in particular, a gibson ripper bridge and tuners, an epi t-bird bridge, and an unknown hollow body style tail piece.  Is this stuff worth the hassle of putting it on ebay?

well, the neck is looking great... I waited a bit, then gave it a little bit of a turn, then waited till the next day, etc etc... and its got a GREAT action now.  the hump is gone and it has a nice even relief :]

I would say a time at least equal to the time it took for it to hump up on you.  There's no magic formula.  It should be several days minimally.

I think the neck sat close to a year before he sent it to me :[

anyone know how long I should wait before adjusting the truss rod?

well, I got the body ready and cut out the neck pocket.  it was a set neck with a bad neck, so I cut the neck off even with the heel, added a 1/4 inch x 5 inch strip of mahogany down the center of the front and back to thicken the body up, it was SUPER skinny, then routed out for the t-bird neck.  Bolted it up today, didn't quite like the angle so I had to shim it up a little, but its bolted up, and the strings are tightened
we'll see if the neck straightens out :]

I got a GREAT deal on a "used" t-bird neck (thanks Mark)  he pulled it off a new epi bird and the neck sat, and developed a slight bow.  The plan is to bolt the neck up, put normal string tension on it, give it some time, then adjust the truss rod and see if it comes out of it.  We expect it will.
How long should I wait before making a truss rod adjustment?

If you want to nail that Paul Stanley look you ought to have a slight gap between the "chards"

.

In a 1996 interview Stanley admitted that he frequently ripped his arm open on that mirror Iceman because of the builders not having smoothed all of the edges and the guitar was left with a few razor sharp spots.

I'm glad I didn't use real mirror :]  this stuff doesn't have any sharp edges

I totally agree, even black would be better than the gold
