Hey John, thanks for the update. I'm glad you've been able to power through everything. Life is full of surprises!

The bust on that Rivoli is one of the nicest I have ever seen!

Pretty nice bust on this one, but it's a guitar...

I played an Ibanez Musician once, and it too weighed a ton.

Gibson only built 718 Thunderbird IIs between 1963 and the 1965 discontinuation date due to a lawsuit by Fender, which insanely claimed the Thunderbird looked too much like their Precision bass (one of the great WTF moments in guitar history).

I've heard this may be at least partially urban legend. Maybe a cease and desist? Also, I believe it was to do with the offset Jazz Bass body. Funny thing is, the later non-rev is more Fender-ish than the original!

That reverse V is odd. Only 19 frets?

Hmm... Not the worst body I've seen, but I don't think the traditional Fender headstock works with it. I think a Swinger headstock would help.

Agreed on the pups...

I used to think those basses looked great exceptfor those cheesy guards.

Tooled leather top? Very 70s. Wal used to make pickguards like that.

Yeah, he used a local sound company who also took care of some of his backline. Sadly, the owner of the sound company has also passed away. Super nice guy.

We built a flight case for the Mustang front end about 7 years ago.  ;D

Some day I will once again own a shorty with flats. That Rivoli is mighty nice!

I played a white JC at GC a couple of years ago that was made in Indonesia. But I think it has all moved to China at this point.

My Fenderbird neck (Korean made Mighty Mite) often ends up with frets sticking out during the winter months here in Chicago. I've been meaning to file the edges when they get to that point, but just haven't gotten around to it.

This IV bass that used to be mine is not selling on I found the listing about six months ago.

Funky color. What is that called?

That's a wig he wears these days, right?

You might be right. The wop curls have been known to disappear over time. Just ask this guy -

Hope everyone had a great Christmas! I'm still trying to figure out what day it is. Thank goodness I have to work 3 days this week or I'd be signing up for rehab!
