The Outpost Cafe / Re: Dickey Betts, RIP

I really liked how both Duane and Dickey soloed like jazz horn players

I like older country music because of the melodies, and sometimes well written songs.  In my mind "Crazy" is right up there with "Stardust"...a well written song with a great melody.

I have a box set with the very first 3 albums, and it is amazing to me how quickly the music became rather sophisticated.

The first album is kind of crude, but they improve by light years on the second and third album.

Just played a job last night on my Les Paul tribute, and I wished for the T bird pro. The les Paul is too dark for my taste. Was a tiny stage and I didn’t want to deal with either of my birds size given the tiny stage.

I liked that.  A nice relaxed feel to it.

Steppenwolf isn’t in the hall? That’s not right. John Kay rocked.

The thing about polar opposites is that...

The truth is always in the middle somewhere. Not on the polar fringes.  If you find yourself on the fringes, you're ideas are probably wrong.

I think the Buddha called it the middle path (or something like that)...

My opinion. I could be wrong.

I used to use national metal picks. They make a bad clicking sound when you play, mostly on the higher notes.
Why I switched to plastic Dunlop picks.

I use 2 Dunlop Tortoiseshell finger picks and 1 Dunlop Tortoise thumbpick...

Same as if I'm playing guitar or banjo...

The Les Paul is short scale…it does not have the definition of the T Bird.

The T Bird with TB+ sounds more "refined" to my ear...

They are both pretty mid-range heavy in a good sort of way.
