The Gibson Bass IV from 1987, did they all come with black hardware? Anyone know?

Gibson Basses / EB-3 in Russia

Here's an interesting early-'70s EB-3 with the wrong bridge.  Can't figure out how they got it to fit on there.  Serial number font looks slightly wonky also.

Saw this video with an Epiphone bass front and center.  Looks weird though, like some kinda Embassy/Newport hybrid.  Is it just an Embassy with the neck pickup replaced with a Mudbucker?  Anyone know?  Video is kinda fuzzy.

Gibson Basses / Unknown Gibson bass case
« on: November 10, 2018, 02:57:39 PM »

Can anyone ID this case? Just picked it up for $30, neither I nor the seller have much of a clue to what model it originally came with. I figure maybe a Victory or a Bass IV?  It's about 13” x 47” on the inside.

Seems like a reasonable price for once.  Mostly when I see old Embassy and Thunderbird basses listed the seller is asking for a Mint.

Haven't heard much on the Bachbirds lately, is everyone still in love with them?

Which series run seems to be the most desired at this point?

I had a cherry series 3 IV, then I got a white series 2 II, so I sold the cherry one cuz I'm not much of a fan of dual pickups.  They were both fine instruments though.  I also prefer the series 2 because of the way the pickguard is positioned on the body.  What I think I'd really love would be a thick body with the arm & belly cuts, coupled with the thin neck.  I don't believe that beast was ever built by Bach though, correct?

Just wondering if anyone else here has one of these?  It's a monster, all maple neck-thru (Supposedly, although the wings don't look like maple.), DiMarzio P/U's, big neck, big everything.  Weighs a ton.  Very cool bass though, if you can live with the big neck and big weight.  Reportedly made by Aria in the early '80s.

Rickenbacker Basses / 4001 neck width at the nut
« on: August 17, 2017, 11:30:54 AM »

If I was in the market to buy a 4001, what years should I be looking at to get the narrowest neck width possible?  I'm used to playing a Thunderbird with a 1-1/2" nut (38mm), so a big wide neck doesn't cut it for me.

What happened to the Hong Kong 'buckers on eBay?  Are they all gone?

This thing looks pretty badass. Doesn't seem to be much interest in it?  No love for these?
