Fender Basses / HNGD! Lefty fender mustang bass
« on: October 05, 2009, 11:30:32 AM »
As some of you might know I have an weakness for short scaled basses en I really love the fender Short-scales.

I own three lefty musicmaster basses and I always wanted a pre'76 mustang with competition stripes. Looked on the internet for some time to find one, and a month ago there she was. On Ebay.co.uk. A true Beauty. Love at first sight. I just got to have her. Original LPB but darkend over the years to a kind of Sherwood greenish.

And here she is. Standing proud in my collection.

It plays and sounds just like a dream.

The Bass Zone / Hollow body basguitars
« on: March 02, 2009, 11:59:56 AM »
I used the search option but I couldn't find any topic specialy made for hollow bodied bassguitars. So I figured well let's start my own. I would like to know if there are more Hollow bodied bassplayer out here. I've already seen a marvelous red EB-2 out here. But so far not many others.

My bunch of hollow's

At first the oldies.

From left to right
Magic EB - mid-60's bass made by the dutch Famos/Venlonia company under the magic brandname
Elite - early 60's bass italian made
Egmond Colorado bass - made in de mid 60's bij the dutch egmond factory
Ibanez 1915 bass. They said to me this was the first own dedesing bass built for the ibanez company. In the late 60,s early 70's. I really like the cutaways/horns on the one.

The new ones

A dean Stylist bass from 2006. Is a great looker, it's sounds great. But it's to big for me I guess almost never play it.
A noname hofner beatlebass ripoff bas it's from 2007. It plays en sounds great use it on stage once in a while.

So come on, post all of your hollow bodied bassguitars in here.

Fender Basses / my new fender musicmaster bass!
« on: February 24, 2009, 07:16:33 AM »
yesterday the mailman came with a large package all the way from australia...

I'm so excited. It's my thirt lefty fender musicmaster bass and isn't she a true beauty? She's born in '77. Have put just after taking the picture some new strings on it. now strung the right way up. She sound really great. I only have an small fender musicmasterbass combo at home currently so I have to wait a little longer to hear on my main stack.

pics of the new beauty in our house:

The other two:

This one my first self payed for bass, and from that time on is always been my main bass. She's was born somewhere in '73 - '74

This one I got out of germany some years ago. It had an fender telecasterbass humbucker in it when I got it.  Wich I pulled out (don't like the sound of those HBs) It now has an GFS lipstickhumbucker in it. That can be coil splitted, in and out phase, serie/parrellel and has an variotone installed witch can be by passed. It sounds great now. She was born in '75

The three sisters together:

This one started life as an '77 - '78 musicmaster bass, By the time I got her, her body was all cut up and totally useless. Together with my father I had this body made out of an slab of hardwood. It was intended to be bright red with an black binding. Unfortunatly my dad died while we were still in the process of putting it together. Haven't changed it since the day he died. It has seen a lot of stage's of the last 4 years.

I'm have get my hands on a lefty tele thinline body, that will be married with an squier bronco neck and hardware to create another  great bass.

The five together to finish this post off...

I have owned a couple of righthanded musicmaster basses as well. an '77 and a '78 both white/yellow. I also have had three squier vista series musicmaster basses, an white, an black and an white one. My wife plays bass on an Squier bronco batz maru bass and yesterday sold her old black squier bronco bass.

Are there some more musicmaster bass owner here?
