Gibson Basses / Looking for my Old Natural 1976 Gibson Thunderbird
« on: September 12, 2018, 07:42:46 PM »
I wish I could find my old one from the Daisy Chain Days....Sold it to a guy named Phil who would travel across the US with his 3-5 year old daughter buying guitars and basses for some wealthy Japanese guys...He carried a Motorola brick cell phone...around 1990...I can describe my Bass..Natural...under the now replaced original Kluson bass tuners are 4 plugged tuner holes  because I had traded it away for a few months and The guy had put Grover bass tuners in there for a while...I had My old tech Steve Dvorak plug and redial and re-install the original tuners....and the strap pegs...all 3 are big dowels plugged in the body....hidden by the original strap pegs...It was a very light color...almost Korina-ish....Wish I still had the serial number written down...I'll try to find some live pics..

I am NOT a fan of Black pickups, Pot metal 3 point crap bridge...But this seems  right...I'd prefer Schallers as opposed to Grovers...

I REALLY think Gibson should have kept the original Tune-O-Matic Bridge..Just place it in the properly intonated spot.

I played a KILLER refin 1961 Jazz bass at CME here in Chicago. It's Black with a white Guard, Mid 1960's Pickups, new harness...both body and back of neck were refinned. I was wondering...would I regret trading my T bird II for it???? It's plays and sounds so good. Thoughts?

My Son Will and I got to hang out on Saturday with Forbidden Archaeology Author David Hatcher Childress, star of "Ancient Aliens".
He owns Adventures Unlimited, a bookstore in Kempton, Illinois. He had a book signing. All I can say is that he is a genuinely great guy and gave my son a a couple of free Videos. Great talking about Ufo's, Bigfoot, Conspiracy theories, etc.

Gibson Basses / Look at this screwy NR Thunderbird IV
« on: April 07, 2015, 05:53:04 AM »
Ok...so this guy shows an OBVIOUS photo of the rear of the headstock with 2 serial numbers...but only mentions one...the one that was Obviously stamped in after the headstock was repaired and resprayed... Claims their are no brakes or cracks...but it's Obvious that it has been refinished...just like the newer style sunbursts...which is done to completely hide the repair...I'm just glad it isn't a II...right Scott???
