The Outpost Cafe / The Eclipse
« on: April 09, 2024, 02:11:41 PM »
Hey anybody else get a view of it? Here are some pictures I got with my phone in Colebrook NH. You can see Dixville notch next to the ski resort known as the Balsams. The spot I was at was my cousin's Christmas tree farm.

Not as bad as Henry is having. Being sued for 50 million.

The Outpost Cafe / RIP Connie Hamzy

A belated sentiment but I just heard, the Grand Funk immortalized Connie is no longer with us. If there's a Saint Peter at the pearly gates, Connie will know what to do. God bless her and RIP.

The Outpost Cafe / Happy Birthday Roger Daltrey
« on: March 01, 2021, 05:18:34 PM »
He’s 77 and still roaring like the proverbial Lion of March. What’s more, there’s word of an expanded re release of Who’s Next with over 100 tracks and lots of previously unreleased music. Looking forward to it as I’m sure many here will be as well.

The Outpost Cafe / RIP Charlie Daniels
« on: July 08, 2020, 11:26:54 AM »
A little late but since nobody else here is talking about it, I wanted to acknowledge his memory here.
Charlie was a beautiful soul besides being a fantastic musician. I saw him a few times live in his later years and he always gave all his energy which was tangible to feel in the crowd. It's an especially hard loss for me on top of everything else going on in the world now. I hope his legacy has left a lasting impression on many and that they can take on the mantle of piety and patriotism he held up for us for so long.

Guitars Etc. / A ringing endorsement for Yamaha

A cute story from Japan.

My how the mighty have fallen. The former CEO can identify quality when it matters. Things keep going downhill for Nissan since the Renault merger.

This was too good not to share here. It's even better than a lot of stand up comedy.

The Outpost Cafe / Concert season
« on: June 01, 2018, 10:37:50 AM »
Anybody going to any good shows this summer? I was going to pick up some ZZtop tix but the prices were very high for the mid sized venue I wanted to go to and they added almost $50 handling fees for each ticket to boot!? Hope the rest of y'all aren't getting gouged.

Gibson Basses / The mudbucker's last hurrah
« on: August 29, 2017, 05:55:22 AM »
I'm going to head over to the shop selling this 1975 EB-0 today. I've always wanted to check out an EB-0 with a mid positioned pickup and a maple neck. I like that this one has a three point instead of a tilt-o-matic two point. I noticed the pick up's pole pieces don't line up the best with the strings in the pictures. I'll know for certain later today but I'm wondering if the crowd here thinks that's an issue.

Gibson Basses / Evertilt replacement bridge
« on: August 02, 2017, 03:51:57 PM »
The bridge on my EB-1 is in rough shape. I brought the bass to a tech I know who originally hails from Nantucket. He also works at John Mann's guitar vault. John will take a drawing of my bridge and fabricate a new one made from chrome plated brass with brass saddles. He would like to make a run of 25 units of these so I figured I should get the word out. This is still in the preliminary stage and I welcome any constructive input from whoever here would like to give it or from anyone interested in getting a replacement for their own Gibson.

Have you folks seen the new limited edition guitars from Gibson custom? Could they be a precursor to the basses for 2018?

Some promising sales results for the music industry but maybe don't all rush to quit your day jobs yet.
