Yeah, that's one cool mother! Wish Epiphone could make the T-bird with one pup, the II. That's a beauty. Don't know why, but it's the one pup that gets got my attention. But I don't wanna sound too selective: The three pup Firebird got me drooling!

That Ashdown looks sharp! Nothing unnecessary. Simplicity rules. Good enough for me.

Who would ever connect the Thunderbird with English novelty act Freddie and The Dreamers? I wouldn't, for sure. Anyway, there is this here connection. Peter Birrell on bass changed basses several times during The Dreamers careeer. And he had taste, if not dancing, but for basses. As is showed in this remarkable video from annu dazumal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUqjuAUus5Y

Gibson Basses / Epiphone new/vintage knob
« on: October 01, 2023, 05:30:22 AM »
When I bought my first Epiphone Embassy, from the ´60s, it was, in every sence of the word, in excellent condition. But.... one thing was missing. The three original knobs. One for bass/treble, two for the pickup's volume. Well, in those days it was possible to find stuff at the Ebay, at good prices. So one day i found three knobs for the Embassy. Though only one for volume. Instead I got two for bass/treble. I thought it would have to do. Which it did!

But now, a quarter of a life later, I realize the Embassy would look way cooler with two controls for volume. Right? And, as I'm a lucky guy, it turns out that Epiphone's new series of Embassy's got the same knobs as the sixties ones. So a solution seeme, for a while, to be in reach. But they aren't.  Can't find the knobs, as an unhappy guy once said.

Is there anybody out there in bassland who knows where to get the knobs, but at a price level that's not ridiculous? They look exactly like this: https://reverb.com/item/50559214-vintage-reissue-epiphone-knobs-newport-olympic-wilshire-crestwood-coronet-embassy-deluxe

This came as a total surprise - the great Eric Haydock in The Hollies playing a T-bird! Never seen him with one earlier. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCj0nwcYZMk&t=39s

So very nice of you to acknowledge Woodies great bass work! I always thought it's a pity that he came into the Stones as a guitarist, who needs two Keith? Stones should have waited, and then brought Woodie on board when Wyman pulled the plug. T-h-a-t would have modernized the Stones sound.

A great bassist!

Full bass, full treble. Maybe a little midrange. 4 on the channel volume. Almost full blast on the master. That's how I like it. With the bass sound creeping up from the floor, through your feet, and up your leg. To wherever it want to go.

That bass, Rob my friend, can not be considered as being nothing but a true beauty! Like a Gina Lollobrigida in company of a dozen..... Diana Palmers! (Fiance of The Phantom). Do you remember Diana? (Paul Anka did!)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7cP55BKCFc  Happy evening!

That work is pure magic! The future as we saw it, in 1963. How much?

Forty years ago, I paid 600 Euro for a bicentennial T-bird. Never liked it. Sold it. Got hold of an Epiphone Embassy -64, for 1 200 Euro. Liked it! Bought another one, just in case..., also from the 60's, much cheaper. Gave it to my bass playing son, together with a Fender P 65. He's satisfied. I'm satisfied. Everyone's happy. Son's got a modern Epiphone Embassy, too. He likes it a lot. So: What to do? Get hold of a 60's Tbird. That's what I would do if I were in your clothes. Go cat, go!
