Title: Field Music
Post by: Pekka on March 09, 2012, 10:36:34 PM
One of the best bands I've heard in a long time. If you like Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, 10CC, Rupert Hine, Split Enz, Rush, Wire or any other good progressive pop check them out. Two brothers, both great instrumentalists (especially as drummers) and they've made 4 albums under the moniker Field Music plus two on their own under The Week That Was (Peter Brewis) and School Of Language (David Brewis). Here's some samples:

Yep, I agree, one of the best bands I've heard in a long time as well.
Thanks for the heads up, I just bought the album "Measure" from Amazon.
The 10cc (one of my absolute favs) reference is spot on!

Very nice!  I liked that a lot.  My fave prog/pop band is still Deerhoof.

Just got Field Music's latest release "Plumb" this morning...on my third listen through...
This, in my opinion, is nearly perfect music!

"Plumb" is indeed brilliant. I like the way they use a synth bass in a Beach Boys "Holland" -style.

The Week That Was album is probably my favourite at the moment. If you like the darker moments of early 80's Genesis ("Mama", "Dodo/Lurker" etc.), Gabriel's third album, Peter Hammill's "A Black Box", Rupert Hine's "Immunity", Kate Bush's "The Dreaming" and Wire and Gentle Giant, grab this album immediately.

Field Music just released a new album "Open Here". A bit more darker than 2016 funky double "Commontime".
