Title: One-offs (?) on RIC's fb page
Post by: ilan on December 08, 2017, 03:54:01 PM
Rickenbacker Guitars (Official)'s facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ricguitars/photos/a.258643817552610.61521.235019996581659/1621748784575433/?type=3&theater) profile pic now shows 4 basses, of which 3 are custom colors: British Racing Green w/checkerboard binding (the coolest imho), gold (not Desert Gold) 4003S, and Walnut (ATG?) with a rosewood pickguard and TRC and dark triangular inlays on a maple fretboard.

Those are cool! Rickenbacker are definitely getting more in touch with their creative side, and realise that there is a ready market for short-run stuff.

The one on the far right looks almost like a homage to '70s Rickenbacker copies, only knowing RIC it will be nothing of the sort.

The gold/maple 4003S looks very tidy, in my opinion.

Love that British Racing Green.

Yes the green one is really tasty. The Autumnglo kind of looks weird with those inlays and pickguard, but maybe I can get used to that look.

The wooden pickguard reminded me of the "dumpster bass", a bubinga-topped 4003 that RIC employees have made for John Hall from a bass body that had too many flaws to be sold. They did German shoulders and checkerboard binding and the outcome was beautiful.

I think John Hall's kid is starting to take more control over there.

The green is killer, and I like the gold too. Not a fan of wood pickguards.

Not a fan of wood pickguards.

How about Formica?  ;)

(I never noticed until now how similar this pickguard is to Ric's).

I used to think those basses looked great exceptfor those cheesy guards.
