Title: Ripper Family Photo
Post by: Denis on November 21, 2017, 07:36:44 AM
I realized yesterday I'd not taken a photo of the Ripper family so here is one now. Though they all sound different they are very much of the same family! It's a little blurry..
Left to right, 2012 G3, '73 with Seymour Duncan pickups and my '80. The '80 weighs almost a pound and a half more than the '73!

Nice! One burst, one natural, one ebony.

The Replica G-3 is the best Ripper shape bass ever.

It sure has the biggest set of cajones of all of them. Sadly, it is still really underrated.

You need a G-4, Denis. Unfortunately Rob's pics are no longer visible (thanks, photobucket  >:().

Also known as the "FLying Dutchman Signature Model"!

Holländer sind alle Betrüger.

I don't even remember it!

I never used Photobucket. The pics were on an old band website that is now defunct.
I can't seem to find them on my Mac at home. Maybe at work.

Is "G4" a joke?  I don't think I've ever heard that before :-o

Rob announced it on April 1, 2008.

Here's the thread, minus the pic: http://bassoutpost.com/index.php?topic=393.0

Yeah, I'd agree on the G-3 being great! I played Denis' and it made an impression for sure!

I found the pics that I made nine years ago, on my computer at the office.
So I put them on my website.

Here they are:

Haha, I'd forgotten that one so you could have recycled it into a 10th Anniversary Fooled You Again.

What Rob needs to do is convince Henry J. that Gibson actually made it.

Henry J couldn't care less. So far I have received no reaction at all on a complete book about their bass guitars. Why would he bother about an obscure bass that some silly Dutchman found... haha!

If you put robotic tuners on it he'd take notice. Convince him that Gibson was ahead of its time even during the Norlin years.

I will send him an email on march 31st about this sensational bass that they made some forty years ago...

THAT.IS.AWESOME!
No wonder I never saw it. I don't think I joined LBO until sometime in 2009!

Maybe we can convince Eastwood they need to build it.

Rob, no need to convince Eastwood. If you go ahead on March 31 I'm convinced we'll be seeing a Gibson Reissue G4 in the 2019 bass model lineup.  ;D

The Eastwood version would be identical except for the scale length, woods, electronics and hardware.  :P

Nope... I beg to differ... probably has this place bugged... probably a lurker... has us all pegged as subversive... If Rob and Mark had not already met Uwe I'd have had him tagged as HJ...
